Conway Communications

Conway Communications has served more than 100 organizations on a broad range of investor relations and strategic communications efforts.  Those engagements include day-to-day financial communications, issues management, financial transactions and corporate special situations.


Mary T. Conway, Principal of Conway Communications, founded the firm in 1998 following wide-ranging experience as a consultant and in-house practitioner.  Ms. Conway brings more than 25 years of diversified investor relations and strategic communications capabilities to the challenges organizations face in communicating effectively with important stakeholders.


Beth Kurth, Partner in the firm, brings significant in-house investor relations and corporate communications expertise, including industry-specific life science and technology knowledge, across the full range of message development options and delivery channel opportunities. 

Experience

Ms. Conway offers a distinctive background, with extensive experience in investor relations and financial public relations, as well as traditional public relations and corporate communications. Prior to establishing Conway Communications, she held senior positions at several Boston public relations firms, providing investor relations consulting and overseeing client service and new business development. On the company side, she held managerial positions at Polaroid Corporation, handling executive communications and overseeing corporate and marketing public relations. Ms. Conway was a partner at Kekst and Company (now part of Publicis), the premier financial public relations firm in New York. There, Ms. Conway worked with domestic and international companies, legal counsel and investment bankers, on investor relations and corporate transactions ranging from mergers and acquisitions to initial public offerings, leveraged buyouts, divestitures, bankruptcies, proxy fights and reorganizations. She also managed crisis communications – for product recalls, personnel and operational issues, major litigation and other sensitive matters -- for clients.


Ms. Kurth has led investor relations and financial communication programs as an internal Investor Relations Officer at several companies in multiple industries and was a senior counselor at industry pioneer the Financial Relations Board as well as at a boutique Boston agency. Her portfolio includes the full suite of message development and delivery activities, for both pre-public and public companies, including strategic counsel, quarterly financial results preparation, conference optimization, investor audits, investor/analyst connections, material guidance, thought leadership events, scenario planning and milestone recognition. 

Education/Affiliations

Ms. Conway holds an A.B. degree cum laude from Dartmouth College. She remains active in Dartmouth affairs, having served as President of her class, Class Newsletter Editor, President of the Class Officers Association and as a member of the Editorial Board of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine and the Committee on Trustees. She was a founding board member of The Vox Clamantis Society, the alumni board that supports the College’s daily newspaper, The Dartmouth (of which she was Executive Editor). She currently is a class agent for development and interviewer for admissions and has also served on the Boston Dinner committee for Women of Dartmouth. She is active in The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), is a member of NIRI’s Senior Roundtable, and served as a director of the local Boston chapter, one of the most active; she has lectured at local meetings as well as at the national conference. In 2018, she was awarded the Boston Chapter’s “Hall of Fame” designation, recognizing her contributions to the field and her stature among colleagues. As an adjunct professor, Ms. Conway taught Public Relations at Framingham State College, and she has an on-going research appointment at the Harvard Business School. 


Ms. Kurth holds an MBA from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University and a B.A. degree in English from Tulane University.  She serves on the Board of Directors of Financial Executives International (FEI) Boston where she also holds a leadership role on the career management committee.  She is also a member of the organizing council for the MIT Sloan CFO Summit.  Previously Ms. Kurth held the role of President of Boston Women in Finance and served as a director of the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) Boston chapter.  In 2015 she was recognized as Woman of the Year by Smart Woman Securities following a guest lecturer appointment at Harvard; she has also been recognized for her work by the Publicity Club of New England for IR/Financial Communications and by MM&M for an awareness campaign.
